Hobbiton Behind the Scenes - from December, 2024

December 2023 took us Beyond the Door. December 2024 brings us a 4.5 hour tour including guided tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set going Beyond the Door in a Hobbit home and cold drink at the Green Dragon Inn plus a hearty feed in the fully themed Millhouse venue and a wander on a path less known! Space is very limited with only 3-5 tours per week and expected to fill quickly. Book Now!

HOBBITON BEHIND THE SCENES.

Tour 111 

8am. Depart Auckland (pickup from any inner city or airport accommodation or Manukau Transport centre) 

We take the scenic route over the Bombay Hills and through the Hauraki Plains with magnificent vistas of the Plains and Kaimai Mountains to Matamata. We take a break for a coffee if needed (own expense) and a photo with Gollum Statue and a Hobbit Syle centre,

We continue to the Hobbiton Movie Set for a 4.5 hour tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set. Learn how the set was created and go 'Beyond the Door' into a meticulously presented Hobbit Home in Bagshot Row (opened December 2023). Continue to the Green Dragon Inn for one cold drink of Beer, Cider, or Ginger Ale to prepare the tastebuds.

Food and cheer is important in the Shire so enjoy a hearty meal in the private fully themed  Millhouse where seconds are encouraged. 

Feeling replete we take a peek at how the Hobbiton magic is made with  a visit to the Art Department's workshop. Your guide will share some fascinating insights into the the creation, maintenance, and decorating  of Hobbiton Movie Set. Visit some of the real workstations of the propmasters, carpenter, scenic painters and crafters.  

The final leg of the journey will venture down some of Hobbiton's unwandered paths for a a Hobbit style platter of cheese, chutneys, and fruit overlooking a stunning vista from a secret spot, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the Shire to conclude your adventure.

Time to purchase a genuine souvenir before we depart about 3.45pm. 

We take a short visit to Lake Karapiro, home of New Zealand rowing on New Zealand's longest river, and we will have you home about  6pm.
