Day 1. AUCKLAND - WAITOMO CAVES - OTOROHANGA KIWI HOUSE - HOBBITON - ROTORUA (LD)
Depart Auckland 7.45am and drive south over the Bombay Hills and along the banks of the Waikato River to Visit Otorohanga Kiwi House to see our unique endangered native kiwi birds at feeding time, the ancient Tuatara reptile, and walk through the largest dome aviary in New Zealand to see our native Kereru (Wood Pigeon) Kakariki (Parrot), and other native birds
Continue to Waitomo Caves for a guided tour through the main limestone cave and cruise through the glowworm grotto. (45 minute tour)
Enjoy a barbecue buffet lunch at Roselands farm restaurant - beef, chicken, fish, salads, cake and coffeee plus a taste of kumara chips.
Visit a small kiwifruit orchard and learn where they came from and importance to New Zealand's economy. tasting in season, May to November - December.
Visit Lake Karapiro, home of New Zealand rowing, and the Karapiro hydro dam on the Waikato River, at 425 km this is New Zealand's longest river.
Continue to Hobbiton and the Shires Rest to join your special guided tour of the Hobbiton Movie set, made famous by "Lord of the Rings, and "Hobbit" films. Drive through part of the picturesque 500 hectare (1,250 acre) sheep and cattle farm and your guide will escort you through the 10 acre Hobbiton site. See the Hobbit Holes, Bag End (Bilbo and Frodo Baggins home), Party Tree, Lake, The Mill, and the Green Dragon Inn, and learn how this Waikato farmland was transformed into The Shire from Middle Earth. Enjoy a cold drink from the Green Dragon Inn and continue to Rotorua.

Day 2. ROTORUA (BD)
Drive south to the Waiotapu thermal area - most colourful in New Zealand. Explore the coloured terraces and see Lady Knox geyser play. Return to Rotorua for a guided tour of the Te Puia thermal area to see bubbling mud pools, famed Pohutu geyser, and to visit the carving and weaving school. Take a ride on the Skyline gondola for a panoramic view over Lake Rotorua, and luge if you wish - luge extra expense. Visit the lake front and Government Gardens and Kuirau Park thermal area before enjoying the Agrodome farm show to see sheep being shorn, a cow being milked, and sheep dogs working as well as taking a farm tour to meet the animals.
This evening enjoy an exciting presentation of Maori culture and hangi steam cooked dinner.

Day 3. ROTORUA - TAUPO - AUCKLAND OR WELLINGTON (B).
Drive south to the Taupo area. Visit the Aratiatia Rapids, Huka Falls, Honey Hive, Craters of the Moon thermal area, bungy site (try if you wish), and Taupo lakefront. There is time for an optional exciting jet boat ride on the Waikato River. or float plane or helicopter flight over the central North island volccanoes. Return to Auckland mid evening
You may depart Taupo early afternoon by scheduled coach arriving Wellington mid evening ending at coach depot. No change in cost.

Half day city highlights tour including summit of Mt Victoria for a panoramic view over the city,. South Coast beaches, historic suburbs, Botanic Gardens, Parliament Building, and a ride on the cable car.
Free afternoon to explore Te Papa Museum of New Zealand, Peter Jackson's Great War Exhibition, Weta Workshop, the waterfront, or whatever you wish. All afternoon activities are extra expense.
OR Option 2. - extra cost $100
Full day sightseeing includes Wellingtons most famous sights from Mt Victoria, Parliament Buildings, and Weta workshop, home of the "Lord of the Rings", "Hobbit" and other great films. Also visit some of the film sites in Wellington including Weathertop, Dunharrow Plateau, Frodo Tree, Race to the Ferry, Shellob's Lair Rock, Helms Deep, Minas Tirith, River Anduin, Gardens of Isengard, Rivendell, Fords of Isen and much more. Day 1. WELLINGTON - PICTON - MARLBOROUGH TOUR - BLENHEIM (B)
Check in at the Interislander terminal by 8.30am for the 3 hour 40 minute cruise across Cook Strait and through the Marlborough Sounds to Picton. You will be met on arrival and visit the "Edwin Fox" ship restoration project. The "Edwin Fox" is the oldest merchant ship, and 9th oldest ship in the world still in existence. Continue to Sir Peter Jackson's KNIGHTS OF THE SKY World War 1 and DANGEROUS SKIES World War 2 exhibitions. Overnight in Blenheim, and visit Marlborough museum and a winery.

Day 2. Tuesday. BLENHEIM - CHRISTCHURCH. (B)
(This itinerary will operate until the Blenheim - Kaikoura - Christchurch route re-opens late 2017 or early 2018)<
Depart Blenheim by Intercity coach at 8am and travel via Murchison, Lewis Pass, and Hanmer Springs to Christchurch where arrival is scheduled for 3.50pm. (Transfers not included)
